Mission of ASAP

Availability of large-scale electronic healthcare data has made it possible to generate swift evidence regarding research questions not addressed adequately in traditional clinical trials. However, reliable causal inference from routinely collected healthcare data requires a deep understanding of the data generating mechanisms and application of appropriate design and analytic principles. ASAP is dedicated to advance the development and application of rigorous epidemiological and statistical methods for rapidly generating effectiveness and safety information about medical products from routinely collected healthcare data. ASAP team members represent expertise from diverse fields including Medicine, Pharmacy, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics.
A special emphasis of the ASAP program is in preparing the next generation of public health scientists. To that end, we teach courses in graduate and professional programs at various Boston area institutions including the Harvard Medical School, the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, and Boston University School of Public Health. We also mentor pre-doctoral and post-doctoral Research Fellows.
